A Heritage Dinner

Last night, we did another heritage dinner, and this time we celebrated Tina's Portuguese ancestry.

Polvo à lagareiro is a Portuguese main dish of boiled then baked octopus with potatoes in garlic oil, and we had a Mediterranean style salad on the side. For dessert, we had Pasteis de Nata, which is a Portuguese custard tart. For those, Tina tried her hand at homemade puffed pastry for the first time, and the crust was unbelievably good! The meal was good, but one tentacle at a time was enough of the octopus for everyone. I think that we're going to skin the last four tentacles, bread them, and deep fry them like calamari. That should be awesome!
